About Agata Skoneczna

Agata is a watercolour artist who creates light, impressionist paintings that aim to ignite connectedness to nature and bring tranquility.

For Agata, connectedness is a feeling of calm, consciousness, and presence in the moment - something that is too often lacking in today's hectic world. As a species, we have never been more technologically connected, and yet true connectedness, to each other and to nature, is getting harder to achieve. Connectedness forms the foundation to a feeling of empowerment to make positive changes in our lives. When we feel truly connected, we feel safer to observe and reflect without judgement, we feel safer to make a change with less fear of making a mistake. Agata's artworks are invitations to zoom-out from the hyper focus of modern life, to embrace a bigger picture, to reflect. She invites the viewer to become that little person often visible in her paintings - and in doing so, to be examined by no-one but themselves.

Agata started her art journey in Poland, where she grew up. She has been practising art for 14 years. To start any painting, Agata first makes a detailed pencil drawing - meticulously planning every watercolour layer in advance. Each layer brings added depth to the piece, which we discover as we stand back and look at the finished painting. Her works, varying in size, are emotive and inspirational.

In July 2023, she decided to promote her art under the Polish name Dobre Studio to celebrate her roots and journey.

"Dobre" in Polish means "good", "sweet-tempered" or "sweet-natured". It reflects on Agata's hopeful outlook on people and nature, her belief that most things in this world, at their core, are good and that often to improve something profoundly is to first look at ourselves and not be scared of reaching our own core.
