Purchasing an Artwork
I do my best to ensure that the photos of artworks you see on the website and the photos of commissions I send you before shipping do the justice to the true colours, contrasts, and brightness of the physical copies. However, because of the digitalisation and the difference in how they appear on different screens or displays, small variations may exist. I offer the possibility to view the original paintings in person before purchase. The viewings can be arranged in Christchurch, New Zealand. Contact me if you would like to purchase an original artwork you see on the website and would like to see it in person first. Please be aware that I run the business mostly online and as such I cannot “hold” the painting for you – I cannot control if I the paintings is sold online in the meantime.
When you receive your artwork, it is yours to do with whatever you like. However, you must not make reproductions of the work. Doing so devalues my efforts and can be considered intellectual property theft.
Commissions
Painting is something I have to fit around a full-time job. As such, I can only accept a few full-size commissions per year. While I hate disappointing a potential collector, I can't say yes to everything. Please be patient and contact me in advance if you would like to commission me an artwork, especially if it is a gift and must be completed before a deadline.
Usually, I ask the commissioner to pay upon completion of the artwork. However, depending on your quoted price and the medium, I may ask for a % deposit to cover the cost of materials. In that case the balance is to be paid upon completion. Once I've received your money, the artwork will be shipped within 2-5 days.
When I have finished an original piece, I will take a high-resolution digital photograph of it, and I may want to use it to create fine art prints. These prints are only ever created in limited runs. If that is the case, I will ask for permission to do the prints based on your commissioned artwork prior. If your painting or the photo on which the painting is based is highly personal and would like to keep it just for yourself – you’re most welcome to say no.
Before accepting your commission, I will give you the most accurate information about delivery date that I can. However, sometimes unexpected things get in the way. That's just life. I always notify of any expected delays as soon as possible. If your painting is a gift that needs to be ready for a certain day, please come to me several weeks in advance. Good things take time 😊
While I’m working on your painting, I'm happy to provide progress updates but I usually do not share any photos until the painting is finished.
Shipping and Delivery
Please allow 2-5 days for shipping the artwork.
If you are purchasing one of my pieces from outside New Zealand, please be aware that your government could require you to pay customs duties on the consignment. By purchasing my work, you agree to take responsibility for it and handle the fees.
Framing
I currently do not have the capability to frame your artwork. Most artworks come unframed. If you would like to have your artwork framed, let me know and I can arrange it to be done in Christchurch, NZ. Please be aware that shipping framed artworks is more expensive because of the larger size and heavier weight of the parcel.
Returns
I do not accept returns.
